EU leaders agreeing to extend 50 billion euros ($54 billion) in aid to Ukraine sends a good message to the U.S., Germany's Olaf Scholz told reporters on Thursday.

"This by the way is also a good signal towards the U.S. The American president is a good friend and ally who is working hard to win support for his demands from the Congress," he said, referring to the deal. He added he hopes this will make U.S. President Joe Biden's efforts in this direction easier.
