After getting the Lok Sabha poll ticket to contest from Uttar Pradesh's Manipuri, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and cabinet minister Thakur Jaiveer Singh reached the district on Thursday and said that the drought-like situation here will soon be over. BJP workers and supporters of Jaiveer Singh also reached out and raised slogans in his support.

While addressing the media, the BJP candidate said, "I don't find Mainpuri changeful. Because of the efforts made by our workers, we will win in Manipuri. Lotus will bloom here." Hitting out at the Samajwadi party candidate Dimple Yadav, he said, "After the demise of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Dimple Yadav became MP. Now the situation has changed and that time is gone. This time the contest will happen based on merit and what she has done for Mainpuri."

Lauding the double-engine government of the BJP, he said that the people of Manipuri would support the BJP. There are PM Modi's ten years of tenure and Yogi's 7 years of tenure. "They have brought a better law and order situation in the state," he added. On BJP fielding Jaiveer Singh Thakur from Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav said, "It is good that they have fielded their minister. Someone had to contest but the Samajwadi Party is ready..."

Notably, Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases beginning April 19. Uttar Pradesh, which sends the maximum number of MPs, 80, to Parliament, will vote in all seven phases. Voting for phases one and two will be held on April 19 and April 26. Next, the state will once again poll in phases three and four on May 7 and May 13. The Uttar Pradesh electorate will also vote in phases five, six, and seven on May 20, May 23, and June 1, respectively. (ANI)
