President Emmanuel Macron insists on maintaining the outcome of New Caledonia's independence referendum, where voters opted to stay part of France despite significant voter abstention.

President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that he won't allow the result of the last referendum on New Caledonia's independence, in which citizens voted to remain part of France although large parts abstained, to be called into question.
