In a notable shift, author and former diplomat Amish has publicly thrown his weight behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections. He believes securing the right leadership is crucial for India's success in the evolving global landscape. In a recent interview with PTI, Amish, currently celebrating the success of his documentary ‘Ram Janmabhoomi Temple: The Return of a Splendid Sun’, highlighted the need for decisive leadership during this transformative period.
‘There is a lovely Urdu couplet, 'Lamhon ne khata ki, sadiyon ne saza payi' (a mistake in a moment, punishment for centuries). If at this age of time we don't get that right leadership which can make sure that India benefits from the change in the world order, we will suffer for it for decades,’ said Amish. He stressed that the global order would recalibrate within the next 5-10 years, and having a leader who can adeptly navigate this shift is imperative for India's benefit.
Amish praised the current administration for its strength in resisting Western pressures, citing India's continued oil imports from Russia amid global sanctions. 'This is what in business terms is called level one strategy, which then cascades down into positivities everywhere,’ he noted. Reflecting on the complexities of Indian politics, Amish lauded politicians across the spectrum for managing one of the world’s toughest jobs, balancing a vast and diverse populace. He also spoke on his documentary, which delves into the history and narratives around the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, highlighting the significance of historical research presented in an accessible format.
