Sikkim Governor Dissolves 10th State Assembly: New Elections Begin

Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya dissolved the 10th Sikkim Legislative Assembly to facilitate the formation of the 11th SLA. This follows the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha's landslide victory, winning 31 out of 32 seats. The process for constituting the new assembly will commence soon.

Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday dissolved the 10th Sikkim Legislative Assembly, effective immediately, to pave the way for the formation of the 11th SLA following election results.

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) returned to power with a landslide victory, securing 31 of the 32 assembly seats.

The dissolution followed a request by the chief minister and a council of ministers' decision, effective June 2. The process to constitute the new assembly is set to begin shortly, according to officials.
