The Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) celebrated a significant victory by winning three seats in the recently concluded Arunachal Pradesh Assembly polls, announced on Saturday.
In an official statement, the party attributed its success to the leadership of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel. Patel later took to social media platform X to emphasize that this victory is a 'significant step on our journey to regain national party status.'
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a third consecutive term in Arunachal Pradesh, clinching 46 seats in a 60-member assembly, according to Election Commission officials. Other parties like the National People's Party (NPEP) won five seats, NCP three, People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) two, Congress one, and Independents three.
'Our newly elected MLAs Nikil Kamin, Likha Soni, and Toku Tatum are expected to make substantial contributions to the state's development and political landscape,' read an NCP statement. Garnering 10.06 percent of the total vote, the NCP reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values and socio-economic progress across India under the guidance of Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel.
Patel added on X, 'The success marks a significant step on our journey to regain national party status. With previous wins in Maharashtra, Nagaland, and now Arunachal Pradesh, we are one state away from achieving our goal.' Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh were held alongside the Lok Sabha polls on April 19, with counting for the state's two Lok Sabha seats slated for June 4.
