Key Contests and Candidates to Watch in Punjab's Lok Sabha Election

As Punjab gears up for the Lok Sabha election vote count, key candidates from major parties, including BJP, Congress, and AAP, are in the spotlight. Heavyweight candidates such as Preneet Kaur, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Charanjit Singh Channi, and Amritpal Singh add to the excitement. Vote counting will commence on Tuesday amid tight security.

As the countdown begins for the Lok Sabha election results in Punjab, all eyes are on prominent candidates such as the BJP's Preneet Kaur, SAD's Harsimrat Kaur Badal, and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi. These high-stakes contests have drawn significant attention.

Equally watched will be the Khadoor Sahib seat, where radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh, currently imprisoned under the National Security Act (NSA), is running as an Independent.

Counting will take place on Tuesday for Punjab's 13 seats and one seat in Chandigarh, with 117 centers established for the task. Officials confirm stringent security arrangements and a voting commencement time of 8 am.

This year saw a voter turnout of 62.80 percent, a slight decline from the 2019 elections. Bathinda reported the highest turnout at 69.36 percent, while Amritsar had the lowest at 56.06 percent.
