All 11 candidates from Congress, BJP, and JD(S) who submitted their nominations for the Karnataka Legislative Council polls on Monday are poised to secure their seats unopposed, according to official sources. The biennial elections to the 11 Karnataka Legislative Council seats, elected by Members of the Legislative Assembly, are set for June 13, with today being the final day for nominations.

Based on the current assembly party strengths, Congress is positioned to win seven seats, BJP three, and JD(S) one. The Congress has nominated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Dr. Yathindra, ex-Karnataka Minorities Commission chairperson Balkhees Banu, Minor Irrigation Minister N S Boseraju, CM’s political adviser K Govindraj, KPCC Working President Vasanth Kumar, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, and Kalaburagi District President Jagdev Guttedar.

The BJP's candidates include former National General Secretary C T Ravi, MLC and Opposition Chief Whip N Ravi Kumar, and party member M G Mule. JD(S) has put forward T N Javarayi Gowda, a defeated candidate from Yeshwanthpur. An additional Congress candidate, R M Asif Pasha, filed a nomination, but it may be deemed invalid due to missing party endorsements, leading to the likelihood of unopposed elections for the 11 official candidates after scrutiny on Tuesday, officials say.
