Congress Triumphs in Punjab Amid Fierce Election Battles

The Congress registered a remarkable victory, clinching two seats and leading in five more constituencies in Punjab, according to the Election Commission of India. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured one seat and led in two more.
Among the notable wins, Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi, the former Punjab chief minister, won from the Jalandhar reserve parliamentary constituency, defeating BJP candidate Sushil Rinku by a significant margin of 1,75,993 votes. Channi polled 3.90 lakh votes against Rinku's 2.14 lakh votes, as per the EC website.
In another tight race, Congress candidate Amar Singh won from the Fatehgarh Sahib reserve Lok Sabha seat, defeating AAP's Gurpreet Singh GP by a margin of 34,202 votes. Meanwhile, AAP's Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer triumphed in the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, besting Congress's Sukhpal Singh Khaira by 1,72,560 votes.
