Sriganesh Claims Victory in Secunderabad Cantonment Bypoll

Sriganesh, Congress candidate, won the bypoll in Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency in Telangana by over 13,000 votes. This poll was necessitated by the death of BRS MLA G Lasya Nanditha. Sriganesh's win increases Congress's strength to 65 seats in the 119-member Legislative Assembly.

Sriganesh, the Congress candidate, clinched victory in the bypoll for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency in Telangana on Tuesday, surpassing his nearest BJP rival, Vamsha Tilak T N, by over 13,000 votes.

According to the Election Commission's website, Sriganesh garnered 53,651 votes while Vamsha Tilak received 40,445 votes. BRS candidate G Niveditha, the sister of the late MLA G Lasya Nanditha, secured 34,462 votes.

This bypoll was necessitated by the unfortunate demise of BRS MLA G Lasya Nanditha in a road accident earlier this year. Sriganesh's victory boosts the ruling Congress's strength to 65 seats in the 119-member Legislative Assembly. Polling for both the 17 Lok Sabha seats and Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency in Telangana took place on May 13 in a single phase.
