The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a sweeping victory, winning all five Lok Sabha seats reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates in Chhattisgarh.
According to the results announced on Tuesday, the saffron party wrested the Bastar seat from the Congress, marking a significant upset. Out of Chhattisgarh's 11 Lok Sabha seats, Bastar, Kanker, Raigarh, and Surguja are reserved for ST category and Janjgir-Champa for SC.
The BJP clinched 10 out of the 11 seats, leaving only one for the Congress. Specifically, in Bastar, BJP's Mahesh Kashyap defeated Congress' influential tribal leader Kawasi Lakhma by 55,245 votes, in a striking reversal of the 2019 outcome where Bastar was one of the two seats Congress managed to win.
