Shrikant Shinde, a Shiv Sena MP and the son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has announced his disinterest in accepting a ministerial position at the Centre. Despite securing the Kalyan Lok Sabha seat for the third time, Shrikant prioritizes party activities over ministerial duties.
Amid rising demands from party leaders for his appointment as a Union Minister, Shrikant emphasized the need to offer the opportunity to other seasoned MPs who have dedicated years to the party. 'If asked by the chief minister whether I want to become a minister, I will decline. I am more interested in doing party work and building it,' Shrikant stated during a press interaction.
Naresh Mhaske, Shiv Sena's Thane MP, and Hatkanangale MP Dhairyasheel Mane echoed the sentiment, expressing party leaders' and workers' wishes for Shrikant to assume a ministerial role. However, Shrikant remains committed to his current duties, which include bridging coordination with other party MPs and enhancing their performance. The Shinde-led Shiv Sena won seven seats in Maharashtra in the latest Lok Sabha elections.
