A seasoned politician, Paswan, 47, hails from the Pasi community and has a robust political lineage. He defeated Congress's Sadal Prasad by a narrow margin of just over 3,000 votes in the latest election. The Bansgaon (SC) constituency includes assembly segments across Gorakhpur and Deoria districts.
Paswan's political journey is deeply influenced by his family's legacy. His mother, Subhawati Devi, and his late father, Om Prakash Paswan, were both prominent political figures. In addition to his political career, Kamlesh Paswan is a businessman and holds a BA in political science from DDU Gorakhpur University. His younger brother, Vimlesh Paswan, also serves as an MLA from Bansgaon.
