Quota activist Manoj Jarange on Monday accused the Congress of acting against the interests of the Maratha community, warning that this stance could lead to electoral repercussions during the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls.

Newly-elected Jalna Congress MP Kalyan Kale met Jarange at Antarwali Sarathi village, where the activist continues his indefinite fast, now entering its third day. Kale expressed his support for the Maratha quota agitation, stating that the movement significantly influenced his own victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Despite Kale’s endorsement, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has voiced opposition to the reservation for the Maratha community from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) quota. Jarange criticized the Congress for allegedly exploiting Maratha votes while opposing their interests. He emphasized the community's demands include Kunbi recognition for Marathas and the withdrawal of legal cases against quota protesters.
