NCP MP Supriya Sule on Tuesday toured various areas in Pune that were severely affected by recent rainfall, highlighting the government's inadequate response. Sule inspected Model Colony, Sinhgad Road, Wadgaon, and Katraj localities, which faced waterlogging due to torrential rains on Saturday.
Addressing the media, Sule pointed out the city's multiple crises, including escalating crime rates and failing infrastructure. 'While drug-related crimes are on the rise, the administration's response remains ineffective,' she asserted.
Sule emphasized that Pune was part of the Union government's Smart City project, yet rampant encroachments were causing rainwater to flood homes. She demanded urgent action against these encroachments, calling for higher accountability from the local authorities.
The Baramati MP criticized the current political leadership, particularly targeting the BJP and the ruling Mahayuti alliance. 'People are busy breaking political parties instead of focusing on the citizens who vote for them,' she added, noting that BJP previously held power in the civic body before an administrator took charge.
