Amaravati Back on Track: Naidu Reclaims Andhra Pradesh's Capital City

A day before being sworn in as Andhra Pradesh's chief minister, N Chandrababu Naidu affirmed Amaravati will be the state’s sole capital. Naidu overturned the three-capital proposal by his predecessor, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The decision followed a significant NDA victory, reinvigorating the Amaravati capital city project.

N Chandrababu Naidu, poised to take office as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced the reinstatement of Amaravati as the state's exclusive capital. Amid a decisive meeting of TDP, BJP, and Janasena legislators, Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to a single capital.

Naidu, who originally championed Amaravati between 2014 and 2019, faced a setback when Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's administration proposed a tri-capital model. However, the recent overwhelming NDA victory has given new momentum to Naidu's original vision.

This landslide victory in both state assembly and Lok Sabha elections, marking a majority of 164 assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats, empowers the NDA alliance to revive the Amaravati capital city project energetically.
