Sikkim Assembly Nominations: Key Players in the Spotlight

Mingma Norbu Sherpa and Raj Kumari Thapa have filed nominations for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker in the Sikkim assembly. Both are two-term legislators representing Daramdin and Rangang-Yangang constituencies respectively. The election, following SKM's massive victory, is set to take place later today.

Mingma Norbu Sherpa, an SKM MLA from the Daramdin assembly constituency, has officially filed his nomination for the position of speaker of the Sikkim assembly, as confirmed by an official on Wednesday. Sherpa, who is serving his second term, is anticipated to bring considerable experience to the role.

In parallel, Raj Kumari Thapa, another two-term legislator from the Rangang-Yangang constituency, has submitted her candidacy for the deputy speaker position. Both nominations come on the heels of the SKM's sweeping victory, securing 31 out of 32 seats in the recently concluded state assembly elections.
