In a significant announcement on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would soon be taking place, coupled with plans to restore statehood to the region in the near future.
During his address at an event titled 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K', Modi commended the high voter turnout in recent Lok Sabha elections, stressing the importance of enabling local representation through upcoming assembly elections. He highlighted his government's dedication over the past decade to transforming Jammu and Kashmir.
Modi also assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that steps were being taken to ensure peace and sworn punishment for those disrupting the region's progress. The Prime Minister attributed the region's success to the removal of Article 370 and the implementation of the Constitution, pledging continued efforts for the development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
