Attempts for a consensual approach broke down when senior BJP officials refused the opposition's precondition to offer the Deputy Speaker post to the opposition bloc, triggering a political mismatch. Notable opposition leaders, including K C Venugopal and T R Baalu, walked out of Parliament following an acrimonious discussion with BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and J P Nadda.
