In a significant political move, Manish Kumar Verma, an ex-IAS officer and close aide to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has been appointed as the national general secretary of the JD(U). The announcement came just days after Verma joined the party.

This elevation has received a nod from CM Nitish Kumar, who is also the party's national president. The decision comes into force immediately, marking a crucial step in Verma's political journey.

Verma, who hails from Nitish Kumar's native district of Nalanda, previously served as an Additional Adviser to the Chief Minister and was a member of the state disaster management authority. He served in the Odisha cadre for 12 years before moving back to Bihar on deputation.
