Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has raised alarms over the declining state of democracy in India, urging all political parties to engage in thorough introspection. In a joint session of both houses of the Maharashtra legislature, Dhankhar stressed the importance of debate and dialogue, which he believes are currently lacking.

'Democratic polity is witnessing a new low and it calls for introspection by all political parties,' Dhankhar asserted.

He noted that the current state of disruption and lack of decorum in parliamentary proceedings are significant concerns. 'All is not well in parliamentary democracy. We are suffering a sacrilege of disruption,' he said, lamenting the ongoing confrontations and lack of respect for the presiding officers in the House. According to Dhankhar, ethics and morality have historically been the hallmarks of public life in India.
