Congress Claims Victory in Key Assembly Bypolls

The Congress party celebrated its successes in the recent Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly bypolls, highlighting gains that indicate a shift in the political climate. Among the achieved victories, Congress reclaimed seats from the BJP and retained others, reinforcing its presence in state legislatures and reflecting public sentiment against the BJP.

The Congress on Saturday celebrated its gains in the assembly bypolls in Himachal Pradesh and BJP-ruled Uttarakhand, suggesting the results reflect a changing political climate.

In Uttarakhand, the Congress won both bypolls. The party's general secretary, Jairam Ramesh, highlighted reclaiming Manglaur from the BSP and holding Badrinath against a former Congressman who had defected to the BJP. Ramesh said this demonstrates public disapproval of the BJP's tactics.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress won two of three seats, defeating Independents who had joined the BJP as part of ‘Operation Lotus.’ Rajiv Shukla, Himachal Pradesh in-charge, stated this brings the Congress back to a stronger position in the state's assembly.
