Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole has declared that party members who cross-voted in the recent legislative council elections have been identified and will face consequences.

Patole revealed that these same individuals had previously caused the defeat of Congress leader Chandrakant Handore two years ago. He assured that measures are in place to prevent future betrayals within the party.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut confirmed that the Congress acknowledged the cross-voting and will take appropriate action. Raut also criticized the BJP, accusing it of unconstitutional practices, including bribing MLAs.

The ruling 'Mahyuti' alliance, consisting of the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP, and the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar, secured all nine seats they contested in the elections. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faced a significant loss, with seven Congress MLAs defying party directives.

This election emphasized the political realignments in Maharashtra, with the ruling coalition strengthening its position while the MVA grapples with internal dissent.
