Former Pakistan president Arif Alvi humorously jabbed at Information Minister Atta Tarar following the announcement to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and prosecute its leaders for treason. In a post on platform X, Alvi shared an anecdote involving renowned humorist Mushtaq Yusufi to criticize Tarar's emotional press conference that declared Article 6 would be invoked against Alvi, PTI founder and jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, and former deputy speaker Qasim Suri.

Alvi recalled Yusufi's witty remark, stating, 'My dear fellow, you speak like a human, but by God, your emotions are of a horse,' delicately implying Tarar's powerful yet unwise expression. The government claims PTI's involvement in riots, receiving foreign funds illegally, and 'anti-state' activities justify treason charges. Tarar emphasized that PTI's actions undermined national sovereignty and integrity on an international level.

Tarar declared that the government would initiate a Cabinet and Supreme Court review to ban PTI, file a review petition in the reserved seat case, and take action against the 71-year-old PTI founder, Alvi, and Suri for subverting the Constitution. Strict legal measures are also planned for overseas Pakistanis involved in anti-state activities.
