Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh has alleged that several BJP MLAs are interested in defecting to the NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar. He also called for the public release of the Chandiwal Commission report, which purportedly clears him of bribery allegations.
Deshmukh cited the resignation of key members of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction as evidence of an ongoing 'switch' towards Sharad Pawar's group. He asserted that the commission's report, submitted two years ago, should be made public, warning of court action if it remains undisclosed.
The Chandiwal Commission was established to probe bribery allegations made by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh against Deshmukh. Despite the commission allegedly clearing him, the report has yet to be released. Deshmukh accused the state government of intentionally withholding the report.
