Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena convened a strategic meeting on Thursday. The objective was to discuss the promotion of welfare measures announced by the government to ensure maximum beneficiary coverage.
The meeting, chaired by Shinde, took place at 'Varsha', the Chief Minister's official residence in south Mumbai. Discussions centered on strengthening the ruling 'Mahayuti' alliance by propagating various welfare measures.
Shiv Sena deputy leader Krishna Hegde told PTI that schemes like 'Majhi Ladki Bahin', job training programs, free LPG cylinders, and senior citizen initiatives were key focal points. The party aims to have observers in all 288 assembly constituencies to facilitate access to these benefits.
Under the 'Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme, eligible women aged 21-60 will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 starting this August. For youths, a job training and stipend program will offer between Rs 6,000 and Rs 10,000 based on educational qualifications. The Mahayuti alliance includes Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Maharashtra's assembly polls are slated for October.
