South Korea Resumes Anti-Pyongyang Broadcasts, Tensions Flare

South Korea has restarted its anti-Pyongyang propaganda broadcasts in response to North Korea's recent balloon launches. The broadcasts, conducted by South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff between Thursday evening and Friday morning, could provoke a strong reaction from Pyongyang, which is highly sensitive to such actions.

South Korea has restarted its anti-Pyongyang propaganda broadcasts across the border, responding to North Korea's resumption of trash-carrying balloon launches.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that frontline loudspeaker broadcasts were conducted from Thursday evening to Friday morning in areas where North Korea had floated the balloons.

The South Korean broadcasts could elicit an angry response from North Korea, which is extremely sensitive to any perceived attempts to undermine its political system.

According to South Korea, North Korea launched the balloons on Thursday afternoon, marking the seventh such campaign since late May.
