On Saturday, Congress stated that the INDIA bloc's vote share in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections will rise with each visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Speaking at a press conference, AICC Executive Committee member Ajoy Kumar welcomed the frequent visits by Modi and Shah, asserting that these visits will boost INDIA bloc’s vote percentage ahead of the elections later this year.

His comments were in response to BJP's concerns about demographic changes in the Santhal Pargana region allegedly due to Bangladeshi infiltration. Kumar accused the BJP of divisive politics based on caste and creed, criticizing them for neglecting the 2011 census and pursuing ''politics of polarisation'' for political advantage.

Kumar also dismissed similar concerns raised by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma about nine districts becoming Muslim-majority areas as ''lies.'' Additionally, he attacked the BJP for ignoring vital issues such as inflation, NEET-UG paper leaks, unemployment, and rail accidents, pointing out that 329 passengers had died under the BJP-led government over the past decade. Highlighting the 2023 Balasore rail accident that killed 296 people, Kumar noted the government's priority on the costly Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train over nationwide anti-collision devices. He also claimed misuse of the Railway Safety Fund.
