The Lieutenant Governor's Office has raised concerns about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's reported low-calorie intake while in jail. A letter addressed to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar cited a report from the prison superintendent indicating multiple instances of Kejriwal not consuming the prescribed diet, despite sufficient home-cooked food being provided.

The BJP's Shazia Ilmi accused Kejriwal of intentionally following a low-calorie diet, claiming it was a tactic for gaining public sympathy. "These people are very clever. Arvind Kejriwal is deliberately taking a low-calorie diet. A health chart has been made for him. He can do anything for the sympathy of the people," Ilmi said.

The letter further highlighted Kejriwal’s weight loss from 63.5 kg to 61.5 kg, attributing it to insufficient calorie intake. It also mentioned concerns over his non-adherence to prescribed medical diets and medications, especially given his history of Type-II Diabetes Mellitus.

In response, the Aam Aadmi Party questioned the intentions behind the LG's letter, suggesting that it was an attempt to undermine the Delhi CM and hinting at a potential threat to his life.
