Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that Mahayuti alliance members, including his own Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction, have the freedom to contest local body elections independently. This move, he argues, will bolster the party cadres' strength.

Speaking to NCP workers in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pawar said that although the coalition is united for the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, members can partake in local body polls on their own. The election schedule for municipal councils, nagar panchayats, and zilla parishads has yet to be finalized.

Pawar also dismissed allegations of preventing his uncle, Sharad Pawar, from speaking at a recent meeting, insisting that his intentions were misinterpreted. Ajit Pawar continued to emphasize his strong ties to Pimpri Chinchwad, refuting claims made by his uncle about the township's development.
