Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K Selvaperunthagai has made it clear that the decision regarding power-sharing with the coalition partner DMK in the state government will rest with the party high command.

Responding to Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram's recent comments that the party should be represented in the Tamil Nadu Cabinet after the 2026 Assembly elections, Selvaperunthagai said this was merely Chidambaram's personal view. He emphasized that only the party high command could form an opinion on such matters.

Selvaperunthagai reaffirmed the strong unity between the Congress and DMK, asserting that no one can create a divide between the two parties. He downplayed the need for immediate power-sharing discussions, citing the cohesive relationship between the two political entities.
