U.S. stock index futures surged on Monday as investors evaluated Donald Trump's increased likelihood of winning the November elections, following President Joe Biden's decision to bow out of the race.

Biden exited the race on Sunday, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic ticket. Major tech stocks, including Meta Platforms, Alphabet, and Apple, gained between 0.5% and 0.8%, lifting Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures.

At 4:17 a.m. ET, Dow e-minis were up 54 points, or 0.13%, S&P 500 e-minis climbed 18 points, or 0.32%, and Nasdaq 100 e-minis surged 102.5 points, or 0.52%. Shares of Trump-linked firms, including Trump Media & Technology Group and Phunware, rose by 2.8% and 1.4%, respectively.
