The Congress launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, responding to his remarks criticizing the opposition. They accused Modi of having 'suppressed the voice' of the nation for ten years, leading to his electoral punishment in the Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing reporters before a Parliament session, Modi claimed an 'undemocratic attempt' was made to silence the government, which had the support of 140 crore Indians to serve. He emphasized that such efforts have no place in democratic traditions, expressing disappointment at the lack of remorse from the opposition.

In a vehement counter, Congress's media and publicity head Pawan Khera alleged that Modi had 'throttled the country' and was now appearing 'very weak' when the opposition voiced concerns. Khera reminded Modi that his tenure has been marked by public discontent, such as the NEET issue and the high suicide rates among farmers and soldiers.

Khera also reminded Modi of his lesser majority support within the NDA and urged him to prove his democratic credentials by refraining from using terms like 'Modi government.' The Congress also highlighted the Supreme Court's ongoing scrutiny of his governance concerning students' rights.

Adding to the criticism, Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Manickam Tagore questioned Modi's accountability on the NEET issue and accused him of inconsistent behavior in and out of Parliament.
