Actor George Clooney, a prominent Democratic fundraiser, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday for the party's nomination in the upcoming November presidential election. Following a public call for President Joe Biden to step down from his reelection bid, Clooney's support now aligns with Hollywood's backing for Harris.

Biden concluded his campaign on Sunday after numerous calls from Democrats in Congress and significant donors, including Clooney, who were unsettled by his disappointing debate performance in June. Harris emerged as the presumptive Democratic nominee on Monday after securing a majority of delegates for the party convention in August. She is set to contend against Republican Donald Trump in the November election.

In his endorsement statement, Clooney praised Biden for his leadership and emphasized his role in preserving democracy. 'We're all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest,' Clooney remarked.

Clooney's endorsement further solidifies Hollywood's longstanding support for Democratic candidates, often described as an 'ATM for Democrats.' A notable fundraiser in June, hosted by Clooney and Julia Roberts, amassed over $30 million, marking the largest Democratic fundraiser in history according to the Biden campaign. Other Hollywood figures such as Barbra Streisand, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Viola Davis have also expressed their support for Harris.
