Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Wednesday vowed that the INDIA bloc would exert significant pressure on the government to secure a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. This declaration followed his meeting with a delegation of farmer leaders at the Parliament House complex.
Representatives from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka informed Gandhi about the pressing issues affecting farmers in their respective states. Addressing reporters after the discussion, Gandhi emphasized the bloc's resolve to advocate for legal safeguards for MSP.
Notable Congress leaders, including general secretary KC Venugopal, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and others such as Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Deepender Singh Hooda, were also present in the meeting, reinforcing the party's unified stance on the matter.
