External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of ''full respect'' for the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and past agreements to stabilize and rebuild bilateral ties with China during his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Vientiane, Laos.

The two leaders, attending meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), agreed on the need for strong guidance to complete the disengagement process following the 2020 military standoff in Eastern Ladakh.

Jaishankar asserted that the state of the border would necessarily impact the overall bilateral relationship, highlighting the need for mutual respect and urgent resolution of the remaining issues along the LAC.
