Yellen Praises Harris as Biden’s Successor, Emphasizes on Global Cooperation

Yellen emphasized the importance of continuing Biden's global initiatives and highlighted Harris's understanding of economic issues and international leadership should she succeed Biden.

In a significant endorsement, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen lauded Vice President Kamala Harris, assuring that she shares President Joe Biden's core values on global and economic issues. Yellen emphasized that Harris would maintain the U.S. leadership on the global stage if she were to succeed Biden.

Speaking at a Group of 20 finance leaders meeting in Brazil, Yellen highlighted Harris's deep understanding of economic issues, from aiding families to creating jobs and tackling inflation. She noted that Harris has been a pivotal part of the current administration's efforts to restore U.S. international leadership.

Additionally, Yellen stressed the importance of continuing Biden’s global economic initiatives, warning against any rollbacks which could harm the global economy. She underlined Harris’s role in endorsing policies that have spurred U.S. growth and expressed support for progressive taxation, although she stopped short of backing a global tax on billionaires proposed by Brazil.
