Jharkhand Assembly Prepares for Final Session Before Elections

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto on Thursday convened an all-party meeting to ensure the smooth functioning of the House during the monsoon session, scheduled to commence from July 26.

This session marks the final assembly gathering before the state proceeds to elections later this year. The meeting saw attendance from prominent political figures, including Chief Minister Hemant Soren, minister Rameshwar Oraon, AJSU Party legislator Lambodar Mahto, and CPI(ML) Liberation legislator Vinod Singh.

However, BJP members were notably absent, with Speaker Mahto mentioning that the party’s Ranchi MLA C P Singh arrived late and might have been designated as their representative. Mahto expressed hope for smooth proceedings and addressed concerns regarding frequent disruptions, framing them as a regular part of legislative sessions. Concerning potential disruptions over demographic changes, Mahto and Soren both indicated that it is a non-issue in their view, encouraging cooperation among parties.
