Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Kargil War Memorial today to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. During the visit, PM Modi will pay homage to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the 1999 conflict between India and Pakistan.

Security arrangements at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras have been heightened ahead of the Prime Minister's visit. In addition to paying tribute, PM Modi will also initiate the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project virtually. The tunnel, measuring 4.1 kilometers, will be built at an elevation of approximately 15,800 feet and will provide year-round connectivity to Leh, making it the highest tunnel in the world upon completion.

The tunnel aims to facilitate faster and more efficient movement of armed forces and equipment, while also promoting economic and social growth in Ladakh. The families of soldiers who lost their lives in the Kargil conflict reflect on the bravery of their loved ones, with many expressing pride and honor in their sacrifices. Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, celebrates India's successful Operation Vijay which reclaimed strategic positions in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistani forces and terrorists.
