Prashant Kishor, the former election strategist, declared on Sunday that his Jan Suraaj campaign will evolve into a political party on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. The party aims to contest the assembly elections in Bihar next year.
Kishor made this announcement while addressing a state-level workshop of Jan Suraaj. The event witnessed the participation of various prominent personalities, including Jagriti Thakur, granddaughter of former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur.
“As previously announced, Jan Suraaj will become a political party on October 2 and will contest next year's assembly elections. Additional details, such as party leadership, will be shared in due course,” stated Kishor, who initiated the campaign two years ago.
Kishor also welcomed Jagriti Thakur into the campaign. Thakur is the daughter of Virendra Nath Thakur, the younger son of Bharat Ratna awardee socialist leader Karpoori Thakur.
Additionally, other significant figures who joined Jan Suraaj included former RJD MLC Rambali Singh Chandravanshi, who was recently disqualified from the legislative council for indiscipline, and Anand Mishra, a former IPS officer who contested the Lok Sabha polls from Buxar as an Independent candidate.
