The Odisha Assembly on Monday faced repeated adjournments as chaos ensued following Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's announcement on reservations for Agniveers outside the House.

Opposition parties, including the BJD and Congress, claimed the announcement violated legislative protocol. Congress member Taraprasad Baninipati moved a breach of privilege notice against the Chief Minister, accusing him of disrespecting the Assembly by making policy announcements externally on July 26.

As tensions rose, the Speaker agreed to review the notice but faced backlash from opposition members. The disruptions led to multiple adjournments throughout the day. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling later read out the Chief Minister’s announcement, revealing a 10% reservation and 5-year age limit relaxation for Agniveers in the state's uniform service. Both BJD and Congress members demanded a ruling and an apology from the Chief Minister for bypassing the legislative process.
