Rebel Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Rakesh Pratap Singh on Monday reiterated his devotion to Ram, stating that the post of MLA is not important to him. 'I am a Ram devotee; the post of MLA is not important for me,' said Singh. His remarks come after the SP decided to cancel the membership of rebel MLAs.
In February, seven SP legislators, including Singh, voted for BJP nominees in the Rajya Sabha polls. Singh, an MLA from Gauriganj in Amethi, questioned SP's policies, asking if raising workers' interests and seeking respect for them was considered rebellion.
'If talking about worker respect and party policies is rebellion, then I am a rebel,' Singh proclaimed. He criticized the party for favoring outsiders over dedicated workers, adding that he only speaks the truth and won't support giving respect to outsiders like film stars over loyal party members.
He further stated, 'I have not rebelled against the SP but spoken the truth. The respect due to hardworking SP workers is often given to actors and big politicians. I cannot support this in Rajya Sabha elections.' Singh also took a dig at SP leadership, highlighting the need for adherence to rules over individual desires.
