Controversial Win: Maduro's Disputed Presidential Victory Spurs Venezuelan Protests

Nicolás Maduro has been declared the official winner of Venezuela's highly disputed presidential election, securing a third six-year term. The National Electoral Council, aligned with Maduro's ruling party, confirmed his victory. Defense, communications, and technology ministers, along with the head of the National Assembly, applauded the result.

“We have never been moved by hatred. On the contrary, we have always been victims of the powerful,” Maduro stated in a televised ceremony, condemning what he described as another attempted coup. Opposition leaders have promised to defend their votes and plan to address the public later.

In response to Maduro's announcement, thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets of Caracas in protest. Demonstrators in the Petare neighborhood tore down campaign posters, while heavily armed security forces monitored the scene. Protests also included attempts to block major freeways, leading to a high-stakes standoff over the disputed election results.
