Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended an offer for 'conditional negotiations' with the powerful military. Speaking from jail, where he is serving a sentence on what he calls trumped-up charges, Khan insists that 'clean and transparent' elections must be held and 'bogus' cases against his supporters be dropped as conditions for dialogue.

In his X account post on Wednesday, Khan appointed Mahmood Khan Achakzai, a close political ally and outspoken military critic, as his representative for any potential talks. However, the military has so far ruled out any discussions with Khan.

Echoing his distrust in the current government, Khan labeled it a 'puppet' and stressed that the military are the 'actual decision-makers' in Pakistan, which he claims is under an undeclared martial law. The military has publicly denied any involvement in his ouster and dismissed the possibility of engaging with political entities accused of attacking military installations.
