Congress leader Sachin Pilot strongly criticized BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Wednesday for using reprehensible language in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Pilot emphasized that people in Parliament should maintain decorum and avoid such language.
He expressed deep regret over the statements made in the House and noted that ruling party leaders were targeting Rahul Gandhi while discussing caste, religion, and societal issues. Such actions, he said, do not align with parliamentary norms.
On Tuesday, Thakur had questioned the Congress' stance on the caste census, suggesting that those whose caste was not known were demanding it. He said the BJP is struggling to accept its electoral losses in states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, and as a result, they are targeting Gandhi.
Furthermore, Pilot described the language used by Thakur as inappropriate for parliamentary discourse. He also commented on the resignation of former Congress MLA Khiladi Lal Bairwa from the BJP, predicting more such exits due to incompatibility with the BJP's system.
Pilot reiterated that Congress, committed to inclusivity, promises to conduct a caste census and implement a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers—promises rejected by the central government but demanded by the public.
