Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday declined to comment on the possibility of the Union government extending Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi's term, as his five-year term is set to expire soon. When asked about Ravi's potential continuation in office, Stalin remarked: 'I am neither the President nor the Prime Minister.'
Ravi, who became the Nagaland Governor on August 1, 2019, was transferred to Tamil Nadu in 2021, where he started his duties on September 18. According to the Constitution, a Governor holds office during the pleasure of the President and for a term of five years from the start date.
Separately, Stalin addressed the Wayanad landslides, stating that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed him about the severe damage, which is still being assessed. Tamil Nadu has dispatched a medical team led by two IAS officials to assist Kerala. In addition, Tamil Nadu Minister for Public Works, E V Velu, delivered a Rs 5 crore cheque to Vijayan to support relief efforts.
