Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge became emotional on Wednesday during a parliamentary session over the 'parivarvaad' statement made by BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari. Kharge urged Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to expunge the remarks regarding his political career.

Kharge reacted solemnly, stating the comments hurt him deeply, rendering him questioning the desire to live in such an environment. Following the paper laying in the House, Kharge highlighted Tiwari's reference to his political journey and his family's involvement in politics. He stressed the need to remove the term 'parivarvaad' from the records.

Providing background on his political roots, Kharge mentioned his first-generation politician status and his father's passing at 85. Chairman Dhankhar, in response, assured Kharge that he would review the records meticulously to ensure respect for all members, emphasizing Kharge's six decades of public service.
