Opposition INDIA bloc parties have called for a debate on the Union Home Ministry’s efficiency in the Rajya Sabha. This proposal emerged during a Business Advisory Committee meeting to decide on the ministries to be discussed.

According to a Rajya Sabha bulletin on Wednesday, the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry will be discussed first, with the BJP initiating the deliberations. The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ministry discussions will follow, started by the Congress. Two more ministries are expected to be discussed, as per consultations with the Chairman.

Further, the TMC and DMK have been recommended to initiate discussions on any remaining ministries. Several opposition parties, including the Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK, AAP, Shiv Sena (UBT), and others, supported the demand to discuss the Home Ministry. The Rajya Sabha’s role, however, in passing money bills like the finance bill, remains limited, as it primarily discusses the working of selected ministries.
