Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad launched an attack on former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhaji Chhatrapati on Thursday, criticizing him for the violence at Vishalgad fort last month during the demolition of encroachments in Kolhapur.
Awhad, speaking to reporters, mentioned that Kolhapur MP Shahu Chhatrapati, who is Sambhaji Chhatrapati's father, was unhappy with the incident.
The violence erupted on July 14 after members of right-wing groups led by Sambhaji Chhatrapati were stopped at the fort's base for violating prohibitory orders. The opposition alleged that the anti-encroachment drive was biased against a particular community.
