Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday accused the Jharkhand government of blocking his visit to Gopinathpur village in Pakur district, citing security reasons.
Sarma, who co-incharges BJP’s electoral efforts in Jharkhand, aimed to visit the site of recent communal clashes around Muharram, as highlighted by a BJP legislator.
Addressing reporters at Phulo Jhano Chowk in Dumka, Sarma decried the state’s decision, suggesting it reflects poorly on the condition of common people if a Chief Minister's movements are restricted.
During his two-day visit, Sarma inspected areas impacted by alleged land grabs by Bangladeshi infiltrators and met with tribal students injured in a recent clash with police, calling for medical treatment and a thorough investigation into the incident.
Jharkhand BJP officials criticized the state government's actions, accusing them of using vote-bank politics to protect infiltrators and alter the state's demographic balance.
